Descriptions of Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for developing continuous roll to roll chemical/electrochemical deposition processes for thin film solar cells.
- Develop analytical techniques and inspection methodology for the coated films.
- Strong drive for results and continuous improvement and implementation, and scaling up existing as well as new deposition processes for advanced solar cell thin film manufacturing.
- Qualify deposition processes and transfer the SOP’s to manufacturing.
- Design, coordinate and execute experiments in the laboratory; characterize, analyze and present experimental results.
- Perform engineering troubleshooting and problem solving using best in class tools.
- Work closely with equipment suppliers and vendors on continuous improvement projects.
- Work closely with other process development engineers to optimize performance of PV cells.
Education & Experience:
- PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of advanced chemical and electrochemical processing, expertise in electrochemical experimentation with design of experiment and other statistical techniques, experience in plating bath control, and thin film characterization techniques.
Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- At least five years of industrial experience in the field of electrolytic deposition processes. Additional experience in electroless/chemical deposition and substrate cleaning is a plus.
- Class training, research or industrial experience on photovoltaic/photodiode, thin film deposition and characterization techniques, and standard semiconductor technology.
- Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects and meet deliverable deadlines amidst changing requirements, deadlines and priorities.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to work on your feet for the entire shift
- Must be capable of lifting 25lbs repeatedly through the day
Training Requirements:
- General Workplace Safety, plus chemical hazard safety training
- Clean Room Protocol Awareness
- SoloPower training and other professional training as required
