Companies sign long-term collaboration agreement to deploy first commercial projects in Aqaba
SoloPower Systems (“SoloPower”), the photovoltaic technology company specializing in the design, manufacture and deployment of CIGS flexible and lightweight thin-film solar technology (“LPV”), announced today that PBI Aqaba Industrial Estate (“PBIA”), a leading industrial estate developer, has signed a collaboration agreement with SoloPower for the development of commercial rooftop photovoltaic (PV) projects in Jordan and the Middle East region.
“We have been active in Jordan for nine years and have developed about 700,000 square meters of infrastructure to date,” said Sheldon Fink, CEO of PBIA. “Many of these buildings are ideally suited for lightweight rooftop PV, creating a significant opportunity for distributed generation of energy. Our mandate is to develop jobs with a safe, clean and aesthetic environment, and we are actively engaged in developing energy savings and renewable energy initiatives. The partnership with SoloPower is an excellent fit with our mandate, and we see great potential for SoloPower’s LPV solution in our business.”
SoloPower will supply products for both existing and new roof applications, including the deployment of building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), while PBIA will provide a platform for initial product deployment and resources for longer-term market development within the region.

PBIA and SoloPower have executed a purchase agreement for two initial projects within the Aqaba Special Economic Development Zone located 15 kilometers from the Port of Aqaba.
