Q: WHO IS SOLOPOWER?

SoloPower is a solar modules manufacturer based in San Jose, California. SoloPower is a leading developer of Copper Indium Gallium di Selenide (CIGS) flexible, thin-film photovoltaic solar panels that are specifically designed for large-scale rooftop applications. Our lab-proven, field-tested solar solutions are produced utilizing a proprietary process at our new, high-volume operations center in Portland, Oregon.

Q: WHAT ARE SOLOPOWER’S GOALS?

SoloPower aims to enable grid parity between solar energy and traditional energy sources. We are achieving this with advanced, highly efficient solar modules. Our thin-film photovoltaic devices are built on flexible substrates that seamlessly and aesthetically integrate into rooftops, buildings and a growing range of non-traditional commercial applications. Ultimately, SoloPower’s goal is to scale solar integration for mainstream applications — vehicles, trains, personal and industrial electronics — to seamlessly provide low-cost power while reducing our reliance on carbon fuels.

Q: WHEN WILL SOLOPOWER BE IN FULL PRODUCTION?

SoloPower is currently engaged in the build-out of our high-volume manufacturing facility located in Portland, Oregon. We are slated to be fully operational in the summer of 2012.

Q: WHO ARE SOLOPOWER’S CUSTOMERS?

SoloPower works with numerous partners to install our CIGS thin-film solar products in large-scale commercial projects. Our customers typically include leading Developers, Independent Power Producers, Integrators, Real Estate Investment Trusts, Engineering, Procurement and Construction companies, Original Equipment Manufacturers, and Product Distributors. In addition to installations in the United States, SoloPower’s proprietary technology serves customers around the world, including Germany, Spain, Italy, France, India, Japan and Australia.

Q: WHO ARE SOLOPOWER’S STAKEHOLDERS?

SoloPower’s investors are top-tier, global private equity and investment firms, including Hudson Clean Energy Partners, Crosslink Capital, Convexa Capital, and Firsthand Capital. Furthermore, SoloPower is a recipient of a US Department of Energy Loan Guarantee, as well as a variety of tax-based incentives from the State of Oregon.

Q: WHAT IS CIGS?

And what makes CIGS different from other photovoltaic technologies? CIGS is a semiconductor material composed of Copper Indium Gallium di Selenide. CIGS uses no crystalline silicon to make solar cells and is equivalent to, and possibly higher than, standard polycrystalline efficiencies. Importantly, because it’s proving to be a more cost-effective solar solution, CIGS is increasingly utilized for a wide variety of applications. SoloPower’s proprietary CIGS technology is electrochemically deposited on a flexible stainless steel substrate — our easily configured, thin-film solar cells can then be integrated into building construction materials, vehicle components and consumer electronics.

Q: WHAT IS THE EFFICIENCY OF SOLOPOWER TECHNOLOGY?

Today, SoloPower production cells achieve median conversion efficiencies in the range of 11% to 13% — an increase from 8% to 10% over the previous 18 months. SoloPower will soon be producing solar modules with efficiencies greater than 12%.

Q: WHAT CERTIFICATIONS DOES SOLOPOWER HOLD?

SoloPower modules are built to meet or exceed UL 1703 and IEC 61646 and 61730 standards.

Q: WHAT SETS SOLOPOWER APART FROM OTHER CIGS DEVELOPERS?

SoloPower is the only CIGS manufacturing company that uses electrochemical deposition for each of the CIGS layers. Based on over 100 years of reliable industrial electroplating technology, our proven and proprietary process provides high throughput, consistent control, high yield, high material utilization and low capital equipment costs.
